Girl Gone Bible (poem)
''I’ve only been Catholic for a month, yet God is already bored with me.''
Dearest Victorians,
I hope you are well. I apologize for my absence. Due to a recent injury to my left wrist (I’m left-handed), I neglected to post the last week of March and the first Monday of this month. Unfortunately, I've been unable to do the things I enjoy. I'm still not sure what's wrong with my wrist; further testing will disclose this soon, but in the meantime, I'll do my best to upload when I can, as typing requires a lot of strength these days.
I've been spending my downtime reading the Bible, contemplating Christianity, and building a connection with Jesus, which has inspired me to write faith-led poetry, frequently with a twist. I spent the morning of Resurrection Sunday at my childhood African-American Catholic church. I had not been there in God knows how long. The day was filled with worship and praise!
Do tell me in the comments how you spent Easter Sunday or Resurrection Day. Below, a poem awaits you…
Girl Gone Bible1
The bible says, Blessed are the meek,
for they shall inherit the earth. I’ve only
been Catholic for a month, yet God
is already bored with me.
I have nothing to offer Him. Not
meekness, not humility, nor my virginity.
I'm too earthly with too worldly a taste
to be saintly.
But Purgatory will cleanse me,
Heaven will heal me, angels will love
me, then God will seek me.
Jesus knew the heart then, as He
does now. He never placed His trust
in Peter2, although he bowed with a vow.
O to be a girl and not lonely like He.3
To trust as if the heart had never
controlled Eve. To love is to
trust though bees will sting.
Of course, I blame Eve
and everything in between!
About Girl Gone Bible…
Girl Gone Bible is a rather lighthearted yet somewhat thought-provoking piece I wrote after reflecting on Adam and Eve, Jesus, and His disciples. Theology is one of my many interests that I've recently returned to. Today, I'll leave it entirely up to you to interpret this poem, primarily because I've exceeded my typing limit for today and may have rambled on for much too long. I shan't leave you empty-handed, but with a quote I read in a random Christian-based article that led me to write this poem:
‘‘Now the bees sting and the bears bite.’’
That’s all for now, Victorians. Thank you for reading, and do share your thoughts in the comment section below. I wish everyone a wonderful April filled with sunshine, self-renewal, and tranquility. If you're participating in escapril this month, may your words flow naturally from the heart!

(Matthew 26:69-75) Peter disowns Jesus, despite Jesus' warning, and refuses to believe Him.
He = Jesus
