New experiences:
more music, fewer books,
and even less sofa time.
Dare I suggest
that new experiences
breed excellent writers?
…
Dare I suggest that classical
music propels me to write
far more than most literature?
When I discover new
sensations, I discover new
ways to write.
The creative pulse
is kept alive
by new experiences.
…
One might enjoy
classical music, but never consider
using it as a medium of expression.
…
I say discover your favorite
pieces and live with them, make love to them,
and watch how they [drift you] into clarity.
About New Experiences…
Over the last week, I spent time deconstructing my creative writing process and my relationship with art in general. Last Wednesday, on June 14th, I published an essay (DISCOVERING NEW WAYS TO WRITE) dedicated to my discoveries. In the essay, I confabulate about my connection to classical music, which propels me to write far more than any piece of literature these days, as well as its nature of instilling new and forgotten emotions within me. I also confabulate about how imperative it is to experiment with new pursuits as an artist (writer). After all, the pulse of life is kept alive by new experiences. In conclusion, ‘‘New Experiences’’ is a fun little poem that consists of key points pulled from the full essay.

I'm pleased to have found you here! You write so beautifully. This resonated with me, since I have not only been pondering the same thing about how new experiences are important for inspiration, but because I love using music for inspiration as well. When I was a teenager writing my first novels, I often borrowed my parents' two-record set of the Nutcracker Suite (on vinyl!) and put it on my bedroom turntable as background music. Even if it was not wintertime. So to this day, to me, the Nutcracker is good inspiration music rather than Christmas music. :)
I love your poem! Yes there’s definitely something about classical music! I never thought I would ever enjoy listening to it but you just have to find ones that resonate with you! I’m impressed how classical music inspires you to write more than anything else!
